"Every child deserves a champion — an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they can possibly be."

Frequently asked questions

  • What is Fostering?
Fostering means providing a safe, stable and nurturing home for a child who cannot live with their birth family. Foster carers support the child’s daily needs, wellbeing and development in line with national care standards.
  • What do foster carers do?
Foster carers provide everyday care such as meals, school runs, routines and emotional support. They also work with social workers, teachers, health professionals and birth families, acting as an essential link in the child’s support network. Foster carers demonstrate warmth, patience, resilience, and calm emotional regulation in challenging situations.
  • Can I foster and still work?
Some carers can work alongside fostering, but for many placements at least one adult needs to be available full time. This depends on the child’s needs and the type of fostering. What the Assessment Process Looks Like

Initial Enquiry

You begin with a friendly conversation where we answer your questions and help you explore whether fostering feels right for you.

Home Visit

One of our team members visits you at home to get to know you, talk about fostering, and understand your family life and motivations.

Stage One Checks

We complete essential checks including references, medical checks, a home safety assessment, and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for adults in your household. We explain every part clearly and support you throughout.

Stage Two Assessment

You will meet regularly with an assessing social worker who helps you explore your strengths, experiences, values, and readiness for fostering. This stage helps us understand who you are and helps you prepare confidently for fostering.

Training

You attend introductory fostering training (also called Skills to foster) that builds your understanding of trauma, safer caring, teamwork, and how to support children effectively.

Fostering Panel

Your assessment is reviewed by an independent fostering panel. We prepare you fully, attend with you, and support you through the decision-making process

The Beginning of a Beautiful Journey
Most assessments take around four to six months, and throughout that time you will always be informed, supported, and encouraged. Once approved, you continue to receive ongoing training, regular supervision, and 24/7 support.
